About the Author

A.D. Critchfield is a Tennessee native, U.S. Navy veteran, and storyteller whose life experiences have shaped her passion for writing stories about love, perseverance, sacrifice, and hope.

After serving six years in the United States Navy, A.D. carried the lessons of service, resilience, and the bonds formed during some of life’s most defining moments into her writing. Her military experience—including serving aboard the first ship deployed to Afghanistan following the attacks of September 11, 2001—has given her a unique perspective on the sacrifices made not only by those who serve, but also by the families and loved ones who wait for them at home.

Now living in Middle Tennessee with her husband, Derek, A.D. has built a life centered around family, creativity, and storytelling. When she isn’t writing, she enjoys the simple things that make life meaningful and finding inspiration in the people, places, memories, and experiences that surround her.

Her debut novel, A Promise from the Moon, is inspired by true events and draws upon her understanding of military life, love, separation, and the emotional battles that can continue long after the uniform comes off. Through her stories, A.D. hopes to give readers more than a romance. She wants to create a place where they can step away from the chaos and mundanity of everyday life and lose themselves for a while in a world filled with love, perseverance, and unrelenting hope.

A Promise from the Moon is coming soon, with publication currently estimated for 2027. But as every writer knows, publishing has a way of taking its own path—and A.D. is keeping her fingers crossed that a little luck will bring the story to readers sooner rather than later.

For A.D., storytelling is ultimately about connection—the kind that reminds us that even when life takes us down unexpected roads, some promises, some loves, and some hopes are worth holding onto.
